Your personal directions
To begin studying Feng Shui the best way is to determine the four most favorable sectors of your home, office or room. These will be your luckiest sectors; thus creating better energy in your surroundings. To determine which 4 corners or directions are your luckiest you need to know your Gua Number. A Gua Number is deducted by the year of your birth and also your gender. It is used to determine your four ‘lucky corners’ or ‘unlucky corners’. Your Gua Number will also determine whether you are in the East Group or West Group.
West and East Groups
Gua numbers 1, 3, 4, 9 or a 5 male are people in the East Groups.
Gua numbers 2, 6, 7, 8 or a 5 female are people in the West Groups.
The group is used to determine which direction you must follow and which direction you must try to most avoid.
To calculate your Gua number you can use this simple formula. Take the last two numbers of the year you were born and add them together. Reduce them down to a single digit. For example if you were born in 1957 then you take the 57; 5+7=12; 1+2=3.
MALE – take the single digit and subtract it from 10. Example: 1957 single number of 3; 10-3=7. The Gua number is 7.
FEMALE – take the single digit and add 5.Using the 1957 single number of 3; 3+5=8. TheGua number is 8.
Note: if you were born in January or the beginning of February (before the 5th), then you should add 1 year to your year of birth. Like, if you were born in January 1971, it’s like you were born in 1972.

Meditation is the art of mind’s silence. When mind is silent, our concentration increases, and we experience inner peace in the turmoil of life. This elusive inner silence brings a lot of people to start meditating, and every person can reap the benefit from meditation practice.
What are the advantages of meditation?
There are lots of them, and some of them are worthwhile enough for you to start meditating.
Here are some of these advantages:
- Better concentration – clear mind makes you more productive, especially as far as creative disciplines are concerned.
- Less anxiety about trifles – Do you allow yourself to worry about trifles? It is in the nature of our mind to exaggerate small things and make little vexations meaningful. Meditation helps us alienate from this. We learn to live here and now and not worry about what was in the past and what will happen in the future. We do not worry about things that do not make sense but we can see the whole big picture.
- Health improvement – numerous research issues demonstrate that meditation has a positive impact on our health. The reason is the reduction of stress and anxiety. If we can reduce stress, good health will be the result of this factor.
- Knowledge about yourself – meditation helps us understand more profoundly our inner world. With the help of meditation we can better understand the purpose of our life.
Is meditation a religious practice?
The best thing about meditation is that to practice it, you don’t need to have any specific religious or philosophical views. Any convictions become trivial to your mind. We plunge into the depth of the heart of the material world in order to get access to our soul which is our inner reality. That is how meditation is available to people of any religion.
What if I do not have enough time for meditation?
Most people like the idea of meditation but they feel that they do not have enough time to meditate. When you really want to do something, you will find time for this. Get up early, or take your eyes off television set for 30 minutes. Meditation requires time investment but cleansing of your mind can make your day more effective. There is nothing better than the feeling of inner harmony. Does it make sense to stay busy without being able to enjoy it? Meditation gives you inspiration and does not require exile from everyday life. If you keep inner calm, all you do, all your work will become more productive.
